We need to consume fresh vegetable juices for optimal health.
The concepts in this section are useful for fortifying our basic understanding of the importance of eating fresh foods.

The Dietary Challenge

The U.S. Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs concluded decades ago that the average American diet is responsible for the development of chronic degenerative diseases such as heart disease, atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, stroke, etc.

The fundamental problem is that most of us don't eat enough fruits and vegetables to reap the benefits they offer. For example, although the National Cancer institute recommends five servings of vegetables and three of fruits each day, the truth is that the average American eats only 1 1/2 servings of vegetables a day on average and no fruit .

In addition, people consume large amounts of toxic substances daily, including caffeine, sugar, white flour, aspartame, microwave-cooked food, hydrogenated fats and deep-fried foods.

All of these poor dietary habits lead to toxic congestion of wastes in the colon.

A properly functioning colon needs to be able to absorb nutrients and then remove the waste materials before they can poison the body. If waste materials are not properly removed, autointoxication occurs, that is, re-absorption of the toxic waste. A healthy colon eliminates wastes two to three times per day. Fresh vegetable juices are a great way to support colon health.
